Our delightful French Gîte and Garden

I found these photos in one of my 'France' folders.

I had forgotten about them

however they are perfect to tie in with the

parties I'm linking to this week!

I can't remember if I told you that I organised a gîte to rent

for our time in France last June/July.

The family have been doing major renovations

so we thought it best that we had our own retreat!

It was within walking distance of the family and as

you can imagine there was much excitement and

toing and froing with the girls!

The house was built in the 1700's

it had two staircases inside

which indicates part of it was probably a barn

originally.

This photo is of another barn on the west side of

the house.

You can just see the ping pong table on the right,

this was our entertainment each afternoon!

The girls had wonderful fun exploring

every nook and cranny in the house.

It was a very comfortable house to stay in

and well stocked with books and music CDs.

The elderly owners were originally from England

and lived there for several years.

Sadly they have both died but the house is still

in the family.

They befriended my daughter and kindly lent

her books to read in english.

I'm joining Karen for Sunlit Sunday
Judith for Mosaic Monday
Stephanie for Roses of Inspiration
Bernideen for BTTCG
and
Jess for The Art of Homemaking Monday

Thank you for your visits and comments

Take care and
be kind to one another.

à bientôt

Shane

  3. I am fortunate to have family to stay with when in France but it would be so fun to rent a gite like this charming place and just explore other areas! Glad you and family had such a good time, and how nice to lend your daughter some books too. Happy Sunday!

  10. Wish I could have been there with you dear Shane - looks like a perfect French home to hang out in! I love places like this - and of course it makes me want to return to the Minervois and my brother's beautiful home there! Doubt I'll get there any time soon as we were there last Oct. Are you back to France this coming Summer?

    Hugs - Mary

  20. The gite you stayed in looks full of character, it's always fun for the family to be together and when it's in a holiday home even better. We are spring cleaning our gite ready for the first letting at Easter. Thank goodness the weather forecast is looking sunny. We are still clearing up after our storm damage. Will you be visiting France again this year ?

  23. What a lovely nest to have for your visit. When we visit The Great Dane's family in Denmark we do the same thing. I find it easier to have my own place to which I can retreat - or invite cousins and friends over as we please. It's win-win!

  28. I would have enjoyed staying in such a place, Shane. It looks so beautiful and has such a long history. My apologies for being so terribly late to visit. Some weeks provided occasions to pull one away from more pleasant activities, like fantasizing about being in France! Lovely.
