Coastline Trees....

Trees are the earth's endless effort to speak to the listening heaven.....
                                                                                      Rabindranath Tagor

A blustery day on the North coast.

I took these photos during an early
morning walk along the ridge,
about two hundred feet
above the sea.

The trees are called Manuka
our native version of
tea tree.

They are quite shallow rooted
but somehow they hang there
as if by one thread
connected to the soil.

Today I'm joining Mary
for Thursday Inspiration
where the prompt is
Tree

Thank you for your kind comments

À bientôt

Be kind to one another

hugs

  1. The tree is a lovely frame through which you see the sea beyond. I've never heard of a Manuka Tree or a tea tree, though I've heard of tea tree oil so perhaps that's the hook to snag onto. Very interesting post and a very beautiful one.

  2. Beautiful photos of the gorgeous scenery Shane. The trees look rather flimsy hanging on to the cliff side don't they. What a view though! Blessings, Pamela

  6. What lovely sculptural trees. The tenacity of trees is amazing - they get a foothold on a rocky cliff and thrive! I've not heard of a Manuka tree either.
    Have a wonderful day, Shane.

  12. Do these manuka trees have blossoms where manuka honey originates?
A nice view for a walk, thanks for sharing it with us.

  17. I actually thought these were paintings at first. Here in Canada we had famous artists called the Group of Seven and your pictures remind me very much of their work.

  19. You compose beautiful images whatever the weather - very atmospheric and interesting about the tree. I tried creating the type of collage you gave a link for on your recent email. However, I have ended up by installing an unwanted toolbar instead. I'm going to stay with the Picasa editing which I'm more familiar with until our son can help me out! Thanks anyway - I shall enjoy seeing your lovely collages for the time being! Have a good week!

    you!

When I hear "Manuka" I think of the prized and precious honey that is supposed to have great healing properties...wondering if it comes from those trees?

I had a bit of a problem leaving a comment on your lovely "Fav Shoppe" blogpost ... got a Service Error message ... not sure my comment made it thru...maybe the computer is telling me to go play in my art cave and extract myself from my fav chair ... it is such fun to 'visit' with you all ways!
